Together again: This month, WPO welcomes underground legends Johnny Showcase & the Lefty Lucy Cabaret to Underground Arts! Johnny Showcase combines cabaret, absurd comedy and infectious soul music in one jubilant and blisteringly energetic show. Those who attended our NYE double-bill remember it as the sexiest, most off-the-hook insane dance party ever, and we are very excited to be playing together again!

February 15: We’re thrilled to be joining forces once again with our good friends from Brooklyn, Raya Brass Band, for an evening of wild Balkan music and dancing. We’ll be trading sets all night. Golden Fest 2013!! Such a great night with so many super talented musicians, dancers and all around awesome people. It was great to have Jack Ohly (currently living in NYC) back with us!

The NYC audience was great – we had crowd surfers! But we think Philly fans can bring it even better. Prove us right at our next monthly Balkan dance party at Underground Arts! We’ll play 3 scorching sets starting at 10 p.m. UA is at 12th and Callowhill.

Celebrating 28 years of existence, Golden Fest will be hosting dozens of bands performing across 4 stages! This year, the event takes place on Friday 1/18 and Saturday 1/19 in the beautiful Grand Prospect Hall ( http://www.grandprospect.com/ ).
**WPO’s performance will be at 12AM (midnight), so technically Sunday 1/20. So if you want to see us, get there on Saturday 1/19 and hang out til midnight. After-party following, hosted by Raya Brass Band and Slavic Soul Party!

Happy 2013! Thanks to everyone who came out to Connie’s Ric Rac for an incredible New Year’s Eve blowout with the a-MA-zing Johnny Showcase!

Our monthly Balkan dance party, typically held on the 1st Thursday of each month, will be on the 3rd Thursday for January only: January 17 at Underground Arts. Come out of the cold and get sweaty with the brassiest sound around! 3 sets, 10 p.m. till 2 a.m. $8 at the door.

We’ll be back to 1st Thursdays in February.
